Pop star Shakira has announced a new partnership with FIFA and Global Citizen Education to support children affected by the ongoing crisis in Venezuela. This collaboration aims to provide educational resources and assistance to vulnerable youth in the country, marking a significant step in humanitarian efforts involving prominent international organizations.
Shakira made the announcement via her social media channels, emphasizing her commitment to helping Venezuelan children who have been impacted by economic hardship, political instability, and displacement. The partnership involves FIFA’s global reach and Global Citizen Education’s expertise in educational programs, though specific project details are still being finalized.
According to sources close to the initiative, the program will focus on providing access to education, psychological support, and community development projects. The partnership is part of a broader effort by FIFA and Global Citizen to leverage their platforms for humanitarian causes, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations in Latin America.
FIFA has confirmed its involvement through a spokesperson, stating, “FIFA is committed to using its global influence to support social causes, including education and youth development in Venezuela.” However, the exact scope, funding, and implementation timeline of the project have not yet been disclosed.

Venezuela’s Ongoing Crisis and Global Humanitarian Response
Venezuela has faced a prolonged economic and political crisis since 2013, resulting in widespread poverty, hyperinflation, and mass displacement. According to the United Nations, over 7 million Venezuelans have left the country, seeking refuge in neighboring nations and beyond. The crisis has severely impacted access to basic services, including healthcare and education, especially for children.
International aid efforts have been ongoing, but challenges remain in reaching all affected populations. Previous initiatives by NGOs and governments have focused on food security and health, with education support being a growing area of concern. Shakira’s involvement signals a new dimension of celebrity-led humanitarian aid aimed at addressing these educational gaps specifically.
FIFA has previously engaged in social responsibility projects, but this marks one of its more focused efforts on education in Latin America, aligning with its broader initiatives to promote youth development and social inclusion.
“I believe every child deserves access to education and a chance for a better future. I am proud to partner with FIFA and Global Citizen to support Venezuelan children in need.”
