This development signals Hulu’s continued investment in nostalgic properties and 90s cult favorites, aiming to attract fans of the original film and new audiences alike.
The sequel is currently in production, with filming reported to have started in early 2024. Lisa Kudrow is confirmed to return as Phoebe Buffay, a role she played in the original film and later on the TV series Friends. Details about the cast and storyline remain largely undisclosed, but sources suggest the project will revisit the characters’ lives years after high school.
Hulu’s decision to produce this sequel reflects its strategy to leverage well-loved 90s properties, aiming to capitalize on nostalgia and the enduring popularity of cult comedies.
